I'm New Here

Your first visit to any church can feel a bit like a first date: both exciting and awkward at the same time.  It's normal to feel that way, so don't worry about it. First visits are first steps, it takes time and more visits to get to know any church, we hope you'll come back again and again to really get to know us.

Here are the most common qustions with answers to help you get familiar with us before you're first visit:

1.
What are the worship services like?
2.
Who are the pastors?
3.
What about my children?
4.
How big is your church?
5.
Will I have to say anything, sign anything, give anything, or be singled out in any way?
6.
How do I get to the church?
7.
What should I wear?

1. What are the worship services like?

Sunday morning Worship Services are held at 10:00 am.
We work hard to make sure every weekend service is creative and relevant to your life. You can park in our campus lot off of Minnesota Ave. or the adjoining lot with the entrance on Newport Ave. If it is your first time with us, we reserve a few spots in the Newport lot just for you--please take one!

2. Who are the pastors?

Rebecca Irelan is our senior pastor, and Susan Grace Smith is our Pastor of Children and Family Ministries. Click here to see them and get to know their background.

3. What about my children?

Sunday School for children preschool through 5th grade is at 9:00 am.
We encourage families to attend worship together so while you're in worship, your children can hang out with you for the entire service (lots do) or head out mid-way through to childen's chapel to hear a Bible story told for younger ears.  Our nursery is always available for our littlest friends where they will enjoy being well cared for in a nurturing, fun, safe and clean, age-appropriate environment. Click here to find out more about our Children's Ministry.

4. How big is your church?

We're several hundred members, many from Willow Glen but plenty too from all over Silicon Valley. Our core mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. More members means we can do more, help more, save more...you get the idea so come on in!

5. Will I have to say anything, sign anything, give anything, or be singled out in any way?

If you are visiting, we do not ask you to give a dime when we pass the offering plate. We will not make you wear a visitor badge or stand up so that everyone can see you. We would like you to fill out a care and communication card so that we can assist you in your visit at Willow Glen United Methodist Church. We want your first visit to be great, and at the same time we respect that you may want to lie low and check us out.

6. How do I get to the church?

Service goes from 10:00AM until around 11:00AM. Click here for directions.

7. What should I wear?

Some people come dressed in jeans and t-shirts while others come dressed business casual. If you prefer to wear a tie or a dress, that's fine too. We want you to feel comfortable while we experience worship together.
